Announcing my new Breaking News Blog!

Matt Savinar Recently decided to stop posting his Breaking News page on his site and that left people in the forums a bit at a loss for someplace to go and find current news stories of interest to Peak Oil people.
I have started a blog with news to act as a bit of a stop gap for now. It is my intention to keep it going unless it is of no benefit and folks aren't interested.
Right now, I'm having a ball putting it together and am hopeful that folks will make use of it.
I don't do commentary, just post the items.
Here is a link to the new blog, let me know what you think!

http://endofempirenews.blogspot.com/

I'll put up a link on the side here somewhere too.
Anyway, hope this proves to be helpful. Take care out there in all the snow and ice!

love you girls,
mom

A new improved way to think about a nuclear attack!

I've been utterly pissed off about this for 2 days and decided to write something about it before I blow a gasket.
Evidently, now, a nuclear attack is just totally survivable! Hell, you wouldn't even have to stay home with your family, you should go on into work and 'git 'er done!'
Oh, and if you just stay put in your house or car, why, you'll be A-OK!
Jesus God!
You know what? as a nation, I think we've gone off the rails, we're totally ignorant if we listen to this nonsense.
I'm sure, that some people would survive a nuclear attack. I'm sure that eventually, given about 900 years or so, the area where the attack occurs would be alright.
But for God's sake, there is no way in hell that a nuclear attack in this country whether by terrorists or made up terrorists, is ever going to be anything than an utter nightmare.
Here's a link to the article in USA today about the drills they had in LA.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-04-13-nuke-plans_N.htm

One challenge he says, will be to persuade survivors to stay indoors, shielded from dangerous radiation until they're given the all-clear or told to evacuate. "In all likelihood, families will be separated," he says. "It's going to be scary to sit tight, though it's the right thing to do."
Families are separated and it's going to be a CHALLENGE to sit tight? A CHALLENGE?
Try utter impossibility.
I know for a fact, that if something like that happened and I was away from my husband or if my girls still were little and lived at home, if I were away from them, I doubt they'd be able to stop me from trying to get to them and I suspect I speak for thousands and thousands of people when I say that too.
No, I don't think the Gov. knows what the hell it's doing on this one for sure.

There was another article about this in the New York Times yesterday or the day before too.
Same thing.
Obama also said that if it happens, the gov. wouldn't be there to help till probably 72 hrs. after the blast.
What a comfort that is.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm about sick of all the crap here lately.
Sick of the manipulation, and the mind games, sick of being lied to and talked down to like we're all stupid and they have to dumb everything down.
Americans need to wake the hell up, and be quick about it too.

I just did a Google news search for nuclear attack to see if I could find that other article.
just go look. http://news.google.com/news/search?aq=0z&pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=nuclear+attack&oq=nuclear
heck, evidently they're talking about it in Sydney Australia too.

People, we are in serious doo doo.
Does this not seem like it just came out of left field to you?
It does to me.
Oh, and don't fall for the old "terrorist did it in the library with a suitcase nuke" ploy either.
There ain't not such thing as a suitcase nuke.
One more time for the hearing impaired.
No such thing as a suitcase nuke.

Google that and see for yourself.
the smallest one is the size of a locker.
they can't be just carried around like a suitcase and left sitting willy nilly on a crowded street or someplace either.
Closest thing to something like that would be a regular homemade explosive with...hell, I don't know what, watch dials that glow in the dark or something, added to it.
Anyway, just wanted to vent my spleen a bit over this nonsense a little bit.
whew! that's better.
be safe girls.
love you,
mom

p.s. here is a link to the Planning Guidance for Response to a Nuclear Detonation
It's a pdf file you can read to give you some info on what to do in case the worst happens.
You can right click and save link as, if you have windows.

Cold Weather Coming!

Waiting on the snow to begin here. The temp is approaching freezing, it has rained off and on all night and at one point I heard sleet hitting the tin roof.
We're supposed to get up to 6" but the worst part will be the cold and the wind.
10- zero wind chills are COLD!
Husband is packed with blankets and pillows in the car in case he gets stranded at work tonight.
I have kerosene and food and all that.
Hopefully the power will stay on and I'll have heat.
I have maybe a gallon of kerosene but it will last a couple days in this 'sad iron' stove that I got last year.

I picked this one up cheap on eBay and if you get a chance to buy one, I highly recommend it.
You can cook on top of it and, still buy wicks and the mica windows for them if the one you get is
missing it.
Here's a good site to do business with for these stove, and lamp wicks and wicks for kerosene cook stove too.
Mike Stairs Wick Shop

You'll want to keep this up away from kids or pets, on a table and I have a porcelain pan underneath it as well.
Good luck to anyone facing this coming storm! Stay safe, and stay warm!
Just wanted to add, the stove in the photo is over all about 11" high and about 6" wide, so it's not really big, They used to heat their irons on these back in the day! LOL

Now is the time for Silence

I think of the time now that has passed. The last couple years spent in preparing for the end, watching the news, waiting. It has been hard on the people that have warned for years now that things were about to change, to fall apart, to go over the cliff.
They have been right about what was coming, but what was coming managed to move slowly enough to remain still yet, unnoticed by many people.
I am constantly amazed at people who still believe that 'business as usual' is just around the corner, that the 'days of wine and roses' are mere moments away.
Many of the people that have now spent years trying to awaken the sleeping, so to speak, many of those early messengers have now decided the time has come to stop warning people. To now let the chips fall where they may. They have done their best and it's now time to be silent and perhaps invisible as well.

The time may soon be coming where it would be dangerous to them and their families to advertise their preparedness to the outside world. Myself, I have about stopped speaking of these things to people other than here or on the forums where I'm a member. Now I keep my preparedness to myself and if you who might be reading this are a person who has taken the time and effort necessary to build up food and water supplies or learned to garden and preserve foods or developed any other number of skills that would be helpful to have in the difficult days ahead, if you are doing these things, it may be time for you to be quiet about it as well.

We are in the middle of the collapse of modern civilization, it is failing in layers, in bits and pieces that fall away in flakes day by day. That is why there are still a large number of people who, although they realize that something is going on, that things are bad in some places, they still believe that all will be well and back to the way things were in just a little while. These are the people that will be a danger to you and your family in the days ahead. These are the people that once they have exhausted their limited supply of food or water or other essential things will think to themselves, "Hey, remember that woman that was talking about storing food? That was talking about all this years ago? Where is her house?"
If you are that person who tried to warn and educate your family and friends, people at work, or church, or school...now is the time for silence.
